Arsenic Reduction Units

The AS-AD-10 Arsenic Reduction under counter unit will reduce the arsenic in the water to undetectable levels <0.2 ppb, in 1,000 gallons of water. The undercounter cartridges are filled with Krudico’s Granular Ferrice Hydorxide Arson-Bind Media. Both As-3(arsenite) which is neutral and As 5 (arsenate) which has an anionic charge are attracted to the media and held even when disposed of in a landfill. Recontamination of the ground water is not possible as the arsenic ions remain bound the media even when disposed of in a landfill. The monitor counts down the water usage and LED lights tell the consumer when replacement of the cartridge is needed.
QUALITY POINT OF ENTRY SYSTEMS: AS-AD FILTERS
The AS-AD point of entry filters are used if the water supply contains all or some arsenic in the As3 (arsenite) form. Krudico’s Granular Ferrice Hydorxide Arson-Bind Media should be used unless pre- treatment is applied to oxidize the As 3 & As 5. These units are depth filters containing varying amounts of the As-AD Iron Oxide Media, depending on the flow rate requirements and the water usage. A Krudico, Inc. technician can help you size the unit according to your flow rate and needs. A full water analysis, water line size, gpm, average/peak/daily water use, and what the water is use for is required to size to you individual needs. Normal runs have been tested to 45,000 plus bed volumes with minimal or no pass through of arsenic. The bed volumes tested are equal to 335,000 gallons of water per cubic foot of media. This will last the average home of 4 persons, three years per cubic foot of media before replacement of the Arsen-bind is needed. The system comes complete with a meter to calculate gallons used and has a LED light to give warning when the media should be replaced. Once the media has been replaced, the old media may be disposed of in any landfill, as it will not contaminate future ground water supplies.
QUALITY POINT OF ENTRY SYSTEMS: AS-ION EXCHANGE SYSTEM
The AS-Ion point of entry system is used if the arsenic in the water supply is already in the form of As5(arsenate) or may be converted to As5 by oxidation with air or chemically such as chlorine. Arsenic Anion Resin is used in this point of entry ion exchange system. NJGS has shown that it will remove/reduce the average arsenic contaminated water to non-detectable. or under 2 ppb. Units are metered for proper regeneration. Water flow rates are up to 5 gpm per cubic foot. With these systems, water must have under 0.1 iron, 0.02 manganese, 0.1 chlorine or other oxidizers and if the water hardness is greater than 15 grains hard, a water softener should be installed in front of the unit. If a water softener is not installed than the resin should be treated every 90 days with a solution of citric acid to prevent a calcium carbonate build up on the resin beads or in the drain line. The AS-Ion System is more cost effective than the AS-AD system over a period of years since the resin life of the AS is 10-20 years before replacement is needed.
